Growing Pains

| "Is Best tape job. Good focus good tape)))))" -Nail Yakupov |
Last night a banged up Oilers fought through another tough game only to come out on the short end of the win stick. With 3 out of our 4 starting centers out, the Oilers won only 42% of the faceoffs against Dallas, 12% better than the Canucks game two nights earlier. Is it time to make a signing or a trade?

yAK-47: Exorcising the Flames demons, yo!

| Yak Off Fleury! |
On April 14th, 1991 Theo Fleury scored his infamous goal against our beloved Oilers team in Northlands Arena then he proceeded to slide down the length of the ice, crashing into the boards. Fast forward 21 years, 9 months and 10 days or 687 398 400 seconds to January 24th, 2013. With the Oilers down 1-0 with 4.7 seconds left in the game, Nail "yAK-47" Yakupov scores a beautiful goal, batting the puck out of the air past Johnny Quick. The Yak Attack then proceeds to celebrate exactly like Fleury did, down the same part of the ice.

Closing The Gap
Not every gap in Oil Country is
as swoon inducing as the one featured between the upper incisors of our future
captain. This is a time when our booming bitumen bonanza has gone belly
up. Thanks in part to a few economists
and the politicians they serve, our recent spending spree, which was based on early projections of
incoming oil revenue, has left us with a situation finance minister Doug Horner referred to
as “not pretty”. I don’t pretend to know
the in’s and out’s of….well, just about anything, but certainly not economics
however, I am curious to see exactly how “not pretty” this turns out to be. Brind’amour “not pretty”? Ricci “not pretty”?
God save us, Horcoff “not pretty”!? Oh, oh I’ve got it! YEG downtown
entertainment complex negotiations “not pretty”!!!!!!
Luongo to the Oilers? No thanks!
Please for the love of god, not to the Edmonton Oilers!Canucks general manager Mike Gillis suggested to the Vancouver Sun on Tuesday that trade talks surrounding goalie Roberto Luongo are picking up steam.
"We have a potential deal in place with one team that has to do something with another player that they have — and it's not who anybody thinks it is — and so we have to wait. (But) we've been offered packages that don't fit what our plan is, what we need," Gillis told the Sun.
Gillis explained how the offers have not suited the Canucks' needs.
"(Teams would offer) excess salary coming back with a [throw-in] player who can't play in our lineup. They say, 'OK, we'll do this, but you've got to take this.' Well, we're not taking it. We've had lots of proposals like that with good pieces that can help us but the other part doesn't help us, and oftentimes they have term attached to them, so we'd just be turning around and buying out a guy.
"I'd rather keep the guy we know, who's a good person."
Last May, Luongo told reporters that he would be willing to waive his no-trade clause if the Canucks asked him to.
